UK-Med and the READY Initiative

UK-Med are part of the READY project group.

The aim of the initiative is to stop outbreaks before they become global. The group works together to improve and strengthen coordinated responses to infectious disease outbreaks through identifying current gaps, preparedness planning and capacity and capability development with training.

Partners will also be ready to respond themselves should a disease outbreak hit. UK-Med brings the significant experience of responding to previous outbreaks to group, and as of 2021, has been leading a new training programme that helps organisations prepare and respond to crises. Learn more about the programme below.

Building a world prepared to help: UK-Med’s training programme

Since early 2021, UK-Med have been working with the READY Initiative on a training programme that helps organisations prepare and respond to crises.

UK-Med is the lead for designing, developing and implementing the training programme that will strengthen the operational capacity of organisations to prepare, rapidly scale up, and improve systems, in order to more efficiently launch an integrated multi-sectoral humanitarian response to future infectious disease outbreaks.

In January and February 2022, UK-Med travelled to Cameroon, Turkey and Sudan respectively to deliver phase three of the Operational Readiness Training programme – a five-day in-person workshop with each organisation.
